Guinea, Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau have been disqualified from CAN U-17. Why?
Another scandal has erupted in African youth football, with three national teams being disqualified from the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Details: The teams in question are Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Guinea-Bissau, all excluded for the same reason – falsified age data of their players.
All three teams underwent preliminary MRI tests, which revealed more than three violations.
Notably, for Guinea, this marks the fourth instance of disqualification from the Africa Cup at this age level, with similar cases occurring in 2019, 2021, and 2023.
The next U-17 Africa Cup of Nations will be held in 2025 in Côte d'Ivoire. The exact dates of the tournament are yet to be determined. Senegal is the reigning champion in this age category.
