The young Guineans qualified on Sunday 20 September following their victory over Liberia in the third-place play-off of the WAFU-A U-17 tournament held in Senegal.

The Syli U-17 side ended the competition on a high note. Facing Liberia in the third-place play-off, Guinea won 2–0 thanks to a brace from Boubacar Diallo.

This victory sees Guinea take third place in the WAFU-A tournament and, more importantly, secure qualification for the next U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, to be held in Morocco. The Syli U-17 side thus returns to the continental stage after several years’ absence.

The Guinean side had missed the last four editions of the competition. This qualification therefore brings an end to a long wait for the young Guineans, who will now head to Morocco for the next U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
