Guinea crowned WAFU-A U20 champions
The young Guineans beat The Gambia 1-0 on Friday 30 October in the final played at the Mamadou Konaté Stadium in Bamako, Mali.
In a closely contested match, it was Aboubacar Keïta who made the difference in the first half. He scored the only goal of the final in the 38th minute, giving his team the lead.
Solid right up to the final whistle, the Guinean side managed to hold on to their lead to clinch the title against the young Gambians.
As well as claiming the title, Guinea have also secured their place at the next Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. The Syli National will therefore be competing at the continental tournament in Ghana in 2027, aiming to build on the momentum of this success.
Guinea thus leave Bamako with the WAFU-A trophy and a place at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
