Real Madrid eliminated Manchester City in the previous round of the UEFA Champions League with a 6-3 aggregate victory. Following the defeat, Pep Guardiola identified the leading contender for the title.
Details: According to the Spanish coach, despite the presence of several strong teams, Real Madrid stands as the main favorite to win the UEFA Champions League.
Quote: "Real are always the favorites for this trophy. There are other contenders too—Liverpool are having a great season, PSG under my friend Luis Enrique are gaining momentum. But obviously, the main favorite is in Madrid," Guardiola stated.
Additionally, for the first time as a coach, Guardiola failed to guide his team to the UEFA Champions League round of 16.
Notably, Kylian Mbappé became just the fourth player in Real Madrid’s history to score 3+ goals in the first round of the UEFA Champions League knockout stage. He also found the net against Manchester City in the first leg. The only other players to achieve this feat for Los Blancos were Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Brazilian Ronaldo.
