Yesterday, Manchester City midfielder Rodri surprisingly clinched the 2024 Ballon d'Or, while Real Madrid completely boycotted the ceremony. Manchester City’s head coach, Pep Guardiola, was asked about this reaction.

Details: The Spanish manager reflected on last year’s Ballon d'Or ceremony, when Erling Haaland attended despite Lionel Messi taking the award.

“If Vinicius had won the Ballon d'Or, it would have been more than deserved. Just as it would have been last season if Haaland had won. But Haaland was in Paris, celebrating alongside Messi,” Guardiola commented.

Reminder: Real Madrid reportedly believes that UEFA may have influenced Vinícius’s loss as retaliation for the club’s role in organizing the Super League.
