A new era begins today in the history of the Australian national football team, following their disappointing start in the Third Round of World Cup 2026 qualification.
Details: Head coach Graham Arnold has announced his decision to step down from his position voluntarily.
Arnold has been in charge of the Australian national team since the summer of 2018. Under his leadership, the Socceroos reached the Round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup, where they were defeated by Argentina.
Reminder: In the first two matches of the Third Round of World Cup 2026 qualification, Australia managed to collect only one point. They lost 0-1 to Bahrain and drew 1-1 with Indonesia.
On October 10, in their third match, Australia will face China.
