As the season draws to a close, Mamelodi Sundowns received promising news regarding their squad. According to FARPost, the 35-year-old midfielder Themba Zwane has been cleared by the medical team to return to the field.

It should be noted that the experienced footballer was regularly utilized by the Sundowns coaching staff in Cup and Premier League matches at the start of the season. Zwane also represented the South African national team in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

However, it was during a match for his country that the midfielder sustained an injury and has been sidelined since October 15, 2024. After surgery and recovery, Themba Zwane returned to training in February, and nearly two months later, the player is ready to assist his team.

Importantly, the 35-year-old veteran returns to the pitch at a crucial point in the season. Sundowns are set to face the South African Cup quarterfinals today, and two CAF Champions League quarterfinals are scheduled for February.

It is worth mentioning that Themba Zwane has spent nearly his entire career with Mamelodi Sundowns, amassing a total of 263 matches and 53 goals.
