Good news for Assane Diao in Como!
The young Senegalese international is getting closer to returning to competition.
After suffering an injury in December 2025, Assane Diao was unable to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations with the Senegal national team. Since then, the 20-year-old left winger has not played. He is continuing his recovery.
But the good news came on Friday 13 February for the Senegalese prodigy. Speaking to the press on the eve of Como's match against Fiorentina in Italy's Serie A, Cesc Fabregas gave a reassuring update on the player's physical condition. Assane Diao will return to competition in a few weeks. He has already resumed training, said the Spanish tactician.
‘Diao resumed training yesterday. He could return for the match against Lecce [1 March] or the match against Inter Milan [4 March]. It might be the right time.’
This is also good news for the 2025 African champions, who will be able to count on the young player again, especially with the 2026 World Cup fast approaching.
