Golden State has extended the coach's contract, making him the highest-paid in NBA history
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has reached an agreement to extend his contract with the team, as reported by ESPN. The new contract is for two years and $35 million, making him the highest-paid coach in NBA history. This concludes lengthy negotiations between the parties.
Kerr's expiring contract was set to end at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, and his extension for $17.5 million allows him to remain in his position until the end of the 2025/2026 season. The duration of Kerr's contract matches that of Stephen Curry's.
It is noted that this contract will be a record in the league's history. San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich earns more than Kerr per season but also holds the position of president in the Texas club.
Kerr has been leading the Warriors since 2014 and has won four championships with the team. Currently, the team occupies the 10th place in the Western Conference with a record of 29-26.
