Girona has defeated the opponent and led La Liga

In the final match of the 17th round of La Liga, Girona hosted Alaves at home. The game took place on Monday, December 18. In case of victory, the Catalans would return to first place.

In the first half, the hosts scored two goals at once. In the 23rd minute, Artem Dovbyk put Girona ahead. And towards the end of the first half, in the 42nd minute, Porto doubled the advantage of the Catalan team. The teams went into the break with the score 2-0.

At the start of the second half, the hosts scored again quite quickly. Girona earned the right to a penalty kick and Artem Dovbyk scored a double in the match. As a result, this goal was the final one in the game.

Girona defeated Alaves 3-0 and returned to first place in La Liga. The team has 44 points after 17 rounds. In the next round, on 21 December, they will face Betis.
