Gilberto’s future at Orlando Pirates in doubt. What’s going on?

According to reports from Soccer Laduma, fresh discussions about Gilberto’s future are gaining momentum following the acquisition of Abdoulaye Mariko.
Details: After signing the 23-year-old Malian midfielder, it became clear that the Orlando Pirates management no longer see Gilberto in their plans.
The midfielder returned to Petro de Luanda on loan in January. The 24-year-old originally joined the Pirates from the same Angolan club in July last year, trying to secure a place in the squad before being sent out on loan.
The source provides a direct quote from an insider:
It’s not looking good for Gilberto. From what we understand, he could be one of the players released as a free agent. There’s a strong chance he’ll either leave permanently or be loaned out again. That’s exactly why Mariko became a target – to potentially fill Gilberto’s spot in the club’s available foreign slots. Mariko is already in South Africa and his announcement is imminent. He’s expected to be part of the squad heading to Spain for preseason.
