Ghana Set to Become Sunderland’s Front-of-Shirt Sponsor with Visit Ghana Deal
Ghana is set to become the new front-of-shirt sponsor of Premier League club Sunderland through a major Visit Ghana partnership.
The agreement, reportedly worth around £10 million per year, is understood to have been finalised ahead of its official unveiling when Sunderland face Arsenal.
The partnership will see the Visit Ghana brand displayed on Sunderland’s shirts and other club merchandise, giving Ghana increased visibility through one of the Premier League’s most recognised platforms.
The project was first revealed by Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin in August, when he informed Parliament that discussions with Sunderland were at an advanced stage.
“We are entering a formal engagement with them to put Visit Ghana on their jerseys and all paraphernalia. We have gone far with the discussions, and they are showing interest,” Bagbin said.
“This is not being sponsored by Parliament. In fact, the main sponsor is from the private sector. We are leading under my canopy to get this done,” Bagbin said, while noting the involvement of the Ghana Football Association, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the Ministry of Finance.
