Ghana Premier League: Basake Holy Stars Appoint Veteran Coach Johnson Smith as New Head Coach
Basake Holy Stars have named experienced Ghanaian coach Johnson Smith as their new head coach, following the resignation of Augustine Adotey.
The club confirmed the appointment on their official Facebook page on Tuesday, November 25, officially welcoming Smith to the technical team.
“Basake Holy Stars warmly welcomes Johnson Smith to our technical team. His expertise and experience will be an asset to our club. We look forward to achieving more together,” the post read.
Smith is set to make his managerial debut in the upcoming Ghana Premier League clash against Asante Kotoko at the AAK II Arena on Wednesday, November 26. The match presents an immediate challenge for the new head coach, giving him a chance to stamp his authority and set the tone for the rest of the season.
Relegation-threatened Basake Holy Stars will be desperate to revive their campaign as they host the in-form Kotoko side. After 10 matches, the team sits 17th on the league table with just six points from a single win, three draws, and six losses, making them one of the teams with the poorest records in the league so far.
