Ghana: Ghanaian defender Daniel Opare ends his professional career
Daniel Opare has definitively ended his professional career. At 35, the Ghanaian can be proud of his successful career.
Trained at the Ashanti Gold Academy, Opare quickly distinguished himself for his potential and discipline. He participated in the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup with the Black Starlets, who finished fourth, and established himself as one of Ghana's promising young players alongside Saddick Adams and Ransford Osei.
Opare played in several leagues around the world. After Ashanti Gold, he played for Sfaxien, Real Madrid Castilla, Standard Liège, FC Porto, FC Augsburg, Besiktas, Lens, Royal Antwerp, SV Zulte Waregem, and RFC Seraing. In total, he has amassed 289 club appearances, demonstrating a diverse career rich in international experience.
Opare played 19 matches for the Black Stars, participating in major competitions and World Cup qualifiers. He also played seven matches for the under-17s and two for the under-20s, joining the historic 2009 U20 generation led by André Ayew, which won Africa's first-ever World Cup title in that age group.
