Ghana beat South Korea to get back on track at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup

The Black Princesses secured a convincing victory in their second match of the tournament, which is being held in Poland.

Ghana’s U-20 women’s team bounced back in Group C following their defeat to Ecuador in their opening match. The Ghanaians dominated their South Korean opponents on Wednesday 9 September at the Arena Sosnowiec.

After a goalless first half, the Black Princesses found the resources they needed to secure victory by the final whistle. Sarah Nyarko broke the deadlock seven minutes after the break. She found the back of the net in the 52nd minute to give Ghana a 1–0 lead.

Three minutes later, the Black Princesses doubled their lead. Ivy Osei Owusu scored in the 55th minute to make it 2–0.

Ruth Amponsah sealed Ghana’s victory in the 84th minute by scoring the third goal. South Korea salvaged some pride with a goal in stoppage time.

Thanks to this victory, the Black Princesses are back on track in Group C. Ghana also became the first of Africa’s four representatives to secure a win at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, Poland 2026.
