Ghana Beat Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 to Qualify for 2027 Women’s World Cup Intercontinental Play-Offs

Ghana have secured a place in the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup intercontinental play-offs after coming from behind to beat Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 in a dramatic WAFCON play-off in Casablanca.

The Black Queens made a difficult start at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, falling behind after just four minutes when Inès Konan converted a penalty to give Côte d’Ivoire an early advantage.

Ghana responded strongly after the break and found their equaliser in the 59th minute through Princess Marfo, giving the Black Queens renewed belief.

The comeback was completed in the 72nd minute when Ghana were awarded a penalty. Josephine Bonsu stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to put Ghana ahead for the first time.

The Black Queens managed the closing stages well, holding on to their 2-1 advantage to secure a crucial victory.

The result means Ghana have qualified for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup intercontinental play-offs, keeping their hopes of returning to the global tournament alive.

For Côte d’Ivoire, the defeat ends their hopes of qualifying for a second Women's World Cup.
