Gervonta Davis arrested in Florida. What's happening?
In August, WBA lightweight world champion Gervonta Davis was scheduled to have a rematch against Lamont Roach. But now, the bout is in serious doubt.
Details: According to Boxing Scene, the 30-year-old American has been arrested in Florida on suspicion of domestic violence, specifically battery charges.
The boxer may still be released on bail, but the amount has yet to be determined. Further legal proceedings and a possible court hearing are expected as the case develops.
Reminder: This isn't Davis' first run-in with the law. In December 2022, just 11 days before a title fight, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting a person. However, his girlfriend later stated that he had not actually harmed her.
In May 2023, a Baltimore court sentenced Davis to three years of probation, 90 days of house arrest, and 200 hours of community service for a hit-and-run incident that occurred in November 2020.
