Germany reaches UEFA Nations League quarterfinals. Who might join them soon?
The UEFA Nations League is entering its crucial phase, with some groups in League A already having played four matches, and others about to reach this point on October 15. These upcoming games could seal group standings and determine quarter finalists.
On October 14, Germany became the first team to secure a quarterfinal spot in League A. Die Mannschaft now leads by five points over the Netherlands and Hungary, who share second and third place. Since these two teams face each other in the fifth round, only one can catch up to Germany. Interestingly, if that game ends in a draw, Germany would win the group with one match to spare.
Italy also has ten points, similar to Germany. With an even larger lead over third-placed Belgium, Luciano Spalletti’s squad only needs to avoid a loss to Belgium on November 14 to secure their quarterfinal berth.
Two more teams could qualify from Group 1 on October 15. Portugal needs to defeat Scotland, and Croatia must overcome Poland. If both results occur, Portugal and Croatia will reach the quarterfinals, leaving their head-to-head match on November 18 to decide group positioning.
Spain is also close to the playoffs. The reigning European champions need a win against Serbia on October 15. A victory would give La Furia Roja a six-point lead over the Balkan side, with an advantage in their head-to-head record.
