Genoa Signs Ivorian Star Maxwell Cornet on Loan from West Ham
Maxwell Cornet, a footballer from Ivory Coast, has officially moved to Genoa on a loan deal from West Ham United until the end of the 2024–17 season. The 28-year-old winger, who was previously on loan at Southampton, will now take on a new challenge in Italy's Serie A after his time in the Premier League ended early.
With Genoa's coach Patrick Vieira, Cornet, who can play both winger and full-back, is eager to return to his best. The Ivorian footballer has had a great club career in addition to playing 31 times for his country and scoring six goals. He has played for teams like Olympique Lyonnais, Burnley, and West Ham.
One of the best moments of his career was winning the UEFA Europa Conference League with West Ham in 2023. He moved to Genoa, who are presently in 12th position in Serie A, since he didn't have many opportunities to play at Southampton or West Ham.
Cornet's arrival to Genoa comes at a crucial moment as the squad seeks to progress under the new management. As Genoa looks to advance in the league, this loan transfer allows Cornet the chance to have a significant effect.
