Genoa could be deducted three points
Genoa faces the risk of losing points in Serie A due to a delay in submitting their tax documentation. The club failed to provide the required paperwork on time due to procedural error, lagging behind by 2-3 days. The deadline for the report submission was set for November 16th.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, an investigation has been initiated against the club by the Prosecutor's Office of the Italian Football Federation. The consequences of this investigation remain unclear - the club might be acquitted or penalized with a deduction of 1 to 3 points.
It's worth noting that Genoa is in its first Serie A season after returning. Presently, the team occupies the 12th position in the league standings, having accumulated 21 points. Genoa's next fixture is scheduled for January 13th, where they will host Torino at their home ground as part of the 20th round of Serie A.
