Gattuso effect! Lazio make Italian football history
Lazio, under the leadership of Gennaro Gattuso, continue to impress with their results. In the 10th round of Serie A, the Romans defeated Cagliari 2-1 at home to achieve a historic milestone.
According to Opta, Lazio have won nine of their first ten matches in a single Italian league campaign for the first time in the club's history. Only six clubs have ever achieved such a record in Serie A. Juventus have reached the mark four times, Milan and Napoli twice each, while Roma and Torino have done so once. Before Lazio, the last teams to accomplish the feat were Milan and Napoli in the 2021/22 season.
Gattuso's work is particularly impressive, having taken charge of Lazio only in the summer of 2026. The Italian coach was handed the team ahead of the current campaign and has already lifted them to a high level and the top of the table this season.
Gustav Isaksen and Andrea Pinamonti found the net against Cagliari. The Romans are two points clear of Inter Milan in the table.
