Galatasaray's Italian midfielder could return to his homeland
After Nicolo Zaniolo left Italy in the winter of 2023, things are not going well for the midfielder. After a six-month stay at Galatasaray, the player went on loan to Aston Villa, where he failed to impress Unai Emery. But, the 24-year-old player has options to return home.
According to Calciomercato, Atalanta are eyeing Zaniolo. The head coach of recent Europa League triumphant Gian Piero Gasperini is a supporter of the midfielder's invitation, but so far there are no specifics on the Bergamaschi's interest.
More persistent in the offer is Villarreal, who are ready to satisfy Galatasaray's financial appetite of 15 million euros. But the player himself has not yet agreed to move to the Spanish championship, asking for time to calmly evaluate all options.
Zaniolo's priority is to play in his native Serie A to at least keep his chances of making it to the Italian national team.
