Gabriel Milito Agrees to Join Chivas After Turning Down Boca Juniors

Gabriel Milito has reached an agreement to become the next head coach of Chivas de Guadalajara, just days after rejecting an offer from Boca Juniors. According to TyC Sports, the Mexican club improved its initial proposal and secured the services of the 44-year-old Argentine, who has been without a club since leaving Atlético Mineiro at the end of 2024.
Milito’s decision to turn down Boca is believed to stem from his deep-rooted connection to Independiente, as well as dissatisfaction with the delays in Boca’s approach. The club had identified him as their top choice to lead the team into the Club World Cup following Fernando Gago’s departure, but now must look elsewhere.
Chivas, meanwhile, sees this as a symbolic win. After losing Gago to Boca in 2024, the Mexican giants have now managed to sign the very manager Boca had prioritized. Milito is expected to sign a two-year deal and could be officially unveiled in the coming days.
