Xabi Alonso had an outstanding season with Bayer Leverkusen last year and is currently in the hunt for the championship. However, it seems a change of clubs is on the horizon.
Details: According to Sport, Alonso will become the next head coach of Real Madrid. Although Carlo Ancelotti has a valid contract running until the summer of 2026, he is set to leave the club at the end of this season.
In the eyes of Florentino Pérez and other members of the club's board, Xabi Alonso is seen as the perfect candidate to lead the team into the future after Ancelotti.
That said, the heavy defeat to Barcelona will not impact Carlo Ancelotti's position as Real Madrid’s head coach. Two key reasons are cited for why Ancelotti is unlikely to be dismissed before the end of the season.
Reminder: During the winter transfer window, Ancelotti will not receive reinforcements, as club president Florentino Pérez has decided not to engage in the transfer market this winter and will instead wait until the summer.
