Kazakhstan's national team hosts Belgium in a World Cup qualifying clash.
Kazakhstan is already out of contention for even a playoff spot, while Belgium, with a victory, will secure top place in the group and a ticket to the World Cup.
But the first half of this encounter certainly didn’t go according to Rudy Garcia’s plans. In the 9th minute, the Belgian defense slipped up, and 17-year-old Dastan Satpayev pounced. The striker intercepted the ball, surged into the box, and fired a shot into the near corner. The goalkeeper misjudged it—1-0.
Let’s recall, 17-year-old Satpayev will join London’s Chelsea this summer when he turns 18. The transfer fee is reported to be around 4 million euros. This season, the forward became a Kazakhstan Premier League champion with Kairat and finished second in the league’s top scorer chart. The goal against Belgium marks his debut strike for the Kazakhstan national team.
