Fury's Trainer Reveals the Lesson Tyson Learned from Defeat to Usyk
Tyson Fury’s trainer, SugarHill Steward, shared the key lesson that the "Gypsy King" took away from his first defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.
Quote: “What went wrong was Tyson got caught in the ninth round—he went down, and that knockdown cost him the fight. For me, the most important thing is not to get caught in the ninth round. Don’t get caught—end of story. You make a mistake, you get caught—just don’t make the same mistake again. It’s that simple.
Obviously, Fury understands—life is about learning lessons. This isn’t the first time he’s been knocked down and had to get back up. How you respond to setbacks makes you stronger.
I’m confident going into the rematch, just like I was for the first fight. I just didn’t expect Usyk to catch Fury. Apparently, Tyson didn’t either, or he wouldn’t have been caught,” Steward told BoxingScene.
Reminder: The rematch between Fury and Usyk is set for December 21. The undercard lineup for this boxing event in Riyadh has also been announced, with Usyk-Fury as the main event.
Previously, Fury hinted at his strategy for the second bout with Usyk.
