Fritz pulled off an incredible comeback against Zverev to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals
World No. 4 Alexander Zverev has ended his run at Wimbledon 2024.
In the round of 16, the German lost a five-set thriller to American Taylor Fritz, who is ranked 12th in the ATP rankings.
In the first set, Zverev made a break point in the ninth game and eventually won 6-4. The second set went to a tie-break, where the German prevailed 7-4.
It seemed Zverev would comfortably close out the match, but Fritz mounted an incredible comeback. The American won the third set 6-4 and took the fourth on a tie-break 7-3.
In the deciding set, Fritz took control from the start and won 6-3.
This marks Fritz's second career appearance in the Wimbledon quarter-finals. It will be his fourth quarter-final at Grand Slam tournaments.
Fritz will face 22-year-old Italian Lorenzo Musetti for a place in the semi-finals.
