Bremen's player decided to represent Algeria instead of the German team!
Former Bayern Munich player and current right-back of the team Bremen, Mitchell Weiser, wants to represent the Algerian national team instead of the German national team in the current international break and in the qualifiers for the 2025 African Cup of nations.
There is still time for the Algerian-German international to represent the national team of his ancestral country (Algeria) after the Algerian Football Federation submitted an official request to FIFA for the inclusion of the 30-year-old.
The player said: "I hope to be invited, there is still time until the next nomination. I have to play well. And I want to introduce myself, the option has always been in my mind because I theoretically have the ability to play football for two countries. It has always been a big goal for me to play a big tournament, I have better chances with Algeria and I want to achieve as much as possible in my career".
In 2017, Weiser won the European Championship title with the Germany U-21 team, and also scored the winning goal in the final match against Spain (1-0).
