Fresh Setback for Boniface Ahead of Stuttgart Clash

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has suffered another setback after being ruled out of Werder Bremen’s Bundesliga clash against VFB Stuttgart on Sunday. His absence comes shortly after he was left out of coach Eric Chelle’s 28-man squad for AFCON 2025.

The decision was a disappointment for the 24-year-old and strong competition from players selected ahead of him. The situation worsened when Werder Bremen confirmed his unavailability.

Head coach Horst Steffen explained that Boniface is dealing with a knee contusion caused by a collision. “It happened in a challenge, knee to knee, and it really hurt,” Steffen said. He added, “Unfortunately, the recovery hasn't been as quick as we'd hoped… I can't yet say whether he'll be available for us again this year.”

Boniface is racing to return before the Christmas break.
