French security services disrupted preparations for terrorist attacks at the Paris Olympics
French security services have thwarted plans for terrorist attacks at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
According to France24, security forces apprehended a far-right extremist who was allegedly preparing to carry out attacks during the Olympic Games in Paris.
The 18-year-old, who was the administrator of a Telegram group called “French Aryan Division,” is currently being interrogated by anti-terrorism police following his arrest in northeastern France.
In his Telegram group, he had issued threats to bomb the Olympics, scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11.
Previously, bookmakers named the favorites for the medal tally at the upcoming Olympics.
The 2024 Olympic Games will mark the 33rd edition of the Summer Games. The decision for Paris to host these events was made in 2017.
A total of 329 sets of medals will be contested at the forthcoming competitions, ten fewer than at the previous Olympics in Tokyo.
