A law enforcement officer lost his job due to a gift from Mbappé.
Details: According to Mundo Deportivo, a police officer—whose name remains undisclosed—was dismissed after it was revealed he had received a €60,000 gift from Real Madrid and France striker Kylian Mbappé.
Reports indicate the incident actually took place back in 2023, when the officer, who was working with the French Football Federation, received a monetary gift of €60,000 from France captain Kylian Mbappé, who shared part of his World Cup 2022 bonus.
Although the payment was technically legal, the police department’s management decided to send the officer into early retirement because he failed to report receiving such a significant sum as a gift from Mbappé.
The case has also triggered a criminal investigation against the officer, who will now have to prove in court that he was not involved in bribery or money laundering.
