France’s Sports Minister, Marina Ferrari, has met with Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi and his OGC Nice teammate Jérémie Boga after the shocking attacks by angry supporters at the club’s training centre on Sunday night. The confrontation came after Nice’s 3–1 loss to Lorient, their sixth straight defeat.

Ferrari had earlier issued a strong statement condemning the incident, calling the violence “unacceptable” and insisting it “can never be justified.” She later posted on X, saying: “I condemn in the strongest possible terms the unacceptable violence targeting the management and players of OGC Nice… Nothing can justify these acts… These serious incidents… have nothing to do with being a fan.”

Reports say around 400 supporters gathered as the players returned from Lorient. Several players, including Moffi, were reportedly spat on, punched, intimidated and subjected to racist insults, while sporting director Florian Maurice was also targeted.

The fallout has deepened the crisis at Nice. Moffi and Boga have been signed off sick and have told those close to them they no longer want to play for the club. French media report the pair consider their relationship with the fanbase broken beyond repair and plan to leave in January.

Head coach Franck Haise is said to be weighing resignation, and Maurice has stepped back from his duties. With Nice struggling on the pitch and facing internal turmoil, Moffi and Boga may have already played their final game for the club.
