Independiente are actively searching for a new left back following Álvaro Angulo’s departure to Pumas, and recently made contact with Boca Juniors’ Frank Fabra. According to TyC Sports, the Colombian veteran—out of favor since Miguel Ángel Russo took charge—was identified as a top target by manager Julio Vaccari, who is pushing for an experienced addition on the left flank.

While Boca are open to parting ways with Fabra, mainly due to his high salary and reduced role, the defender reportedly declined Independiente’s approach. He thanked the club for their interest but reaffirmed his desire to stay at Boca until his contract expires in December, hoping to regain a place in the lineup before then.

Independiente, meanwhile, are short on natural left backs. Vaccari has been testing right-back Federico Vera on the opposite side and may turn to left-footed wingback Santiago Montiel. Promising youngster Jonathan de Irastorza is currently the most likely starter for Sunday’s match against Sarmiento.

Talks for Facundo Zabala and Cristian Borja have stalled over financial terms, and Robert Ergas—recently sidelined at Pumas by Angulo’s arrival—has also been offered. For now, the Red Devils remain on the lookout.
