Four games?! Morientes explodes over Vinicius suspension: “I'm absolutely outraged.” VIDEO
Fernando Morientes simply cannot understand how Vinicius ended up with a four-match suspension.
Details: Former Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes reacted furiously to the punishment handed to Vinicius Junior during El Partidazo de COPE. The Brazilian received a four-match LaLiga ban following his dismissal against Villarreal: two matches were imposed for pulling Nathan Saliba's hair in an incident classified as violent conduct, while another two were added for his protests towards referee Isidro Díaz de Mera after the red card. The RFEF Appeals Committee subsequently rejected Real Madrid's appeal and upheld the full four-match sanction.
Morientes made no attempt to hide his frustration.
“I'm absolutely outraged,” the former Spain international said while discussing the disciplinary decision.
In his view, the incident deserved a straight red card, but the final punishment went well beyond what he considers proportionate.
“I understand it's a straight red, but four games from there seems outrageous to me,” Morientes added.
The suspension means Vinicius is set to miss the LaLiga matches against Sevilla, Barcelona, Racing Santander and Valencia, including the upcoming El Clásico at Camp Nou.
It is worth noting that Vinicius has made 10 appearances for Real Madrid across LaLiga and the Champions League this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists. His dismissal against Villarreal was his first red card of the 2026/27 league campaign.
Reminder: Official: Vinicius banned for four matches! Real Madrid star to miss El Clásico
