The 2025 Apertura Tournament is nearing its dramatic conclusion, with just four matchdays remaining and four contenders still in the hunt. According to RPP Noticias, Universitario sits atop the table with 29 points, trailed closely by Alianza Atlético and Melgar (28 each), while Alianza Lima stays alive with 25 and a game in hand.

Universitario controls its destiny. With two home games (ADT and Los Chankas) and two tough away fixtures, including a rescheduled clash with Atlético Grau, winning out would crown them champions regardless of other results.

Alianza Atlético enjoys favorable momentum and a relatively manageable schedule, facing Cienciano and ADT away while hosting Atlético Grau and Sport Boys. They remain close but will need a slip from Universitario to overtake them.

Melgar has the most challenging path. Their final games include trips to Huancayo and Binacional and a crucial showdown at home against Alianza Lima, which could prove decisive.

Alianza Lima, though trailing with one less match played, must win all remaining fixtures and hope for missteps above. They face Comerciantes Unidos this Wednesday, but their direct clash with Melgar is delayed until October—an obstacle to immediate contention.

With minimal margins separating the top sides, every point counts. The Apertura’s final stretch promises to go down to the wire.
