Formidable reinforcement! "Mumbai Indians now have two Andre Russells!" - Faf du Plessis comments on The Paltan's new signings

Brilliant work in the transfer market is opening up new opportunities in the long-awaited quest for championship glory.

Details: According to former Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis, Mumbai Indians now have every chance to contend for IPL 2027 gold medals after a highly successful transfer campaign.

Du Plessis noted that after signing Will Jacks and Sherfane Rutherford, Mumbai now have "two Andre Russells"—hinting that these players are capable of dramatically shifting the balance in the league standings.

"Right now, it's like having two Russells on your team. Their squad looks incredible," said du Plessis.

Mumbai Indians secured the versatile English all-rounder and spin specialist Will Jacks at the IPL 2025 auction, and ahead of the IPL 2026 auction in the West Indies, they acquired Sherfane Rutherford from Gujarat Titans.

However, Mumbai Indians' dreams of clinching the coveted trophy remain just that—dreams, for now. The franchise has not lifted the IPL trophy since 2020, but experts believe Mumbai are the leading favorites in the race for silverware going forward.
