Former world number three Dominic Thiem has ended his career
This month, legendary Rafael Nadal announced his retirement from tennis, but he is not the only top player who will no longer compete next season.
Details: Austrian star Dominic Thiem has also announced his retirement from professional tennis. Thiem played his final match at his home tournament in Vienna, where he lost in the round of 32 to Italy’s Luciano Darderi.
Thiem, a former world No. 3, reached that ranking in March 2020. The same year, he won his only Grand Slam title at the US Open.
Plagued by injuries since 2021, Thiem's career took a downturn. At just 31 years old, he retires ranked 318th in the ATP rankings.
Reminder: Yesterday, it was revealed that legendary footballer Diego Forlán, at 35 years old, will make his debut in professional tennis.
