Former two-time junior lightweight boxing champion Ryan Garcia was arrested last night in Los Angeles.

According to ESPN, Garcia caused approximately $15,000 in damage to the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills hotel before being apprehended by police after his driver, who called the authorities, dropped him off.

Garcia's attorney, Darin Chavez, stated that the boxer has been struggling with mental health issues, something Garcia has publicly acknowledged multiple times. Sport Bible quotes Chavez as saying:

"Ryan has openly discussed his mental health battles for years, and he is currently experiencing a significant emotional burden.

Support and understanding from fans and the public are crucial as he navigates these personal challenges. We are diligently working to provide Ryan with the necessary resources.

Our team is committed to ensuring he receives appropriate care and assistance for his immediate and long-term well-being. We ask for continued support and compassion as Ryan focuses on his family and health."

It is not yet clear what penalties Garcia may face, but details are expected to emerge soon. This incident marks Garcia's second controversy in recent months. Following his last fight against Devin Haney in April, there was significant online debate over a failed doping test. Garcia tested positive for ostarine, a performance-enhancing substance, before and during the fight.
