Former Ten Hag assistant at Manchester United to coach Kenya national team
In late October, Erik ten Hag and most of his coaching staff departed Manchester United, with several of his former assistants now taking on independent managerial roles.
Details: According to journalist Ole Teya, former Ten Hag assistant Benni McCarthy is set to become the head coach of the Kenya national team, replacing Engin Firat, who stepped down earlier this month. McCarthy will officially begin his duties in January 2025.
Reminder: The 47-year-old South African coach was responsible for working with strikers under Ten Hag’s staff at Manchester United. However, he left the club before the Dutchman, departing on June 30, 2024. Prior to his stint at Old Trafford, McCarthy managed AmaZulu and Cape Town City and served as an assistant coach at Belgian side Sint-Truiden during the 2015-2016 season.
