Former Senegalese international Lamine Mboup has passed away
A prominent figure in local football, his death was announced by the Senegalese Football Federation.
Lamine Mboup contributed to the development of Senegalese football. At international level, he played for the Lions of Teranga. At club level, between 1980 and 1990 he played for Jeanne d'Arc in Dakar, Al Masry in Egypt and Martigues in France, among others.
At the end of his football career, he became a coach. This stage was marked by his time at the helm of Senegal's women's national futsal team. Lamine Mboup was also one of the most recognised sports consultants in the local media.
One of the highlights of his contribution to the development of local football was the establishment of the Senegalese Football Players' Union in 2020. Lamine Mboup was also noted for his commitment to the development of women's football and youth training.
However, he passed away on Tuesday 10 March 2026.
