Former Real Madrid and Portugal national team footballer Fábio Coentrão retired from professional football in 2021, but life after football has taken an unexpected turn for the athlete.

Details: According to Jornal de Notícias, Coentrão has been involved in illegal seafood trade since retiring from football.

Today, Portuguese law enforcement authorities caught the former footballer smuggling seafood. Over a ton of seafood was confiscated from a warehouse owned by Coentrão.

The operation involved 12 tanks of live shellfish that were harvested without proper authorization.

Additionally, Coentrão reportedly threatened journalists who arrived at the scene of the incident.

Previously, Coentrão had stated that he wanted to dedicate his post-football life to the sea, following in the footsteps of his father, who was a fisherman.

During his career, Coentrão played 101 matches for Real Madrid and made 52 appearances for the Portuguese national team. He also played for Benfica, Sporting Lisbon, Monaco, Nacional, and ended his career with Rio Ave.

Reminder: Yesterday, it was reported that Sevilla defender Kike Salas was detained by police for violating betting regulations.
