Former Premier League Star Identifies Chelsea Player Who Could Derail Their Title Hopes
Former Watford captain Troy Deeney believes Chelsea won’t win the Premier League title unless they strengthen their defense. Despite an impressive start to the season, Chelsea’s defensive frailties could hinder their title ambitions.
Details. Deeney acknowledges that Chelsea is a title contender but insists they cannot mount a serious challenge without addressing issues in defense and goalkeeper positions.
"Right now, they should be fighting for the title. But I still think the goalkeeper [Robert Sánchez] and the defenders are conceding silly goals. Today, they left themselves exposed at the back, and that’s why I think they should aim for a top-four spot. If they don’t reinforce in January, this defense will let them down."
Context. Chelsea recently secured a 2-1 victory over Leicester and currently sits third in the table, level on points with Arsenal and just one point behind Manchester City.
