The experienced Spanish attacking midfielder Juan Mata, who had been without a club for a while, has found a new team, dispelling rumors that he might retire from football.
Today, A-League club Western Sydney officially announced the signing of the 36-year-old on a one-year contract.
Mata is best known in Europe for his time with Chelsea, Manchester United, Valencia, and Galatasaray.
His previous club was Vissel Kobe in Japan, where he won the J-League title but had limited playing time.
Last season, Western Sydney finished seventh in the A-League, narrowly missing out on the playoffs.
Recently, Mata graduated from Harvard University, where he studied business in the fields of entertainment, media, and sports.
