Former Liverpool and Bournemouth winger Jordon Ibe was detained by police at Luton Airport immediately after arriving from Bulgaria.
Details: According to TopSkills Sports UK, the 30-year-old footballer, who currently plays for Lokomotiv Sofia, was taken into custody based on a warrant related to an incident that occurred late last year. Law enforcement had been awaiting the player's return to the UK in order to formally press charges.
Ibe is accused of causing actual bodily harm. According to investigators, the footballer is implicated in an assault that took place on December 14, 2025. Further details of the incident have not been disclosed in the interests of the investigation, but the seriousness of the charge means Ibe could be facing a prison sentence or a substantial fine if found guilty.
After his arrest and the completion of required legal procedures, it was announced that Jordon Ibe will appear before the Croydon Magistrates' Court. The hearing is set for March 6. Until then, Ibe's legal team will be preparing his defense, and the player himself will likely be temporarily suspended from matches for his Bulgarian club until his legal status is clarified.
It's worth noting that Ibe played for Liverpool from 2013 to 2016, making 41 appearances and scoring one goal for the club.
