At the age of 21, central midfielder Pedro Banga, who played for the youth team of the Portuguese club Maritimo, passed away in Angola.

Banga traveled to his homeland for vacation, where he was simply playing football with friends. During the game, he lost consciousness, and his heart stopped. Medical professionals tried to resuscitate Banga, but unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful.

As a member of the Angolan U-17 national team, Banga participated in the African Championship and the 2019 World Championship. Last season, he played 16 matches for the Maritimo youth team.

Prior to his time with Maritimo, Banga played for Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa.
