Former Ajax forward Danny Hoesen has made a surprising career switch after hanging up his boots. The Dutchman now works as a barber at Maesons, a barbershop in Utrecht, reports The Sun.
"It's not every day that a former professional footballer goes to work in a hairdresser's. But I have never had such a big ego that I think I'm too big to do anything different. Why should I feel superior just because by chance I can kick a ball well? I lived in a bubble all the time while I was a footballer. Players would buy designer clothes just to show they could afford them," Hoesen shared in an interview with Voetbal International.
Hoesen enjoyed a successful playing career, winning the Eredivisie title in 2012/13 and the Dutch Super Cup with Ajax. He also lifted the KNVB Cup in 2015 with Groningen. Beyond the Netherlands, he played in the Premier League for Fulham and had stints in MLS with San Jose Earthquakes and Austin FC.
