This week, the German Cup quarterfinals took center stage, delivering yet another stunning upset.
Details: 3. Liga side Arminia Bielefeld hosted Werder Bremen and pulled off a remarkable victory. Just before halftime, Arminia struck twice in quick succession, taking a 2-0 lead into the break.
Werder responded early in the second half, with Berk scoring in the 56th minute to revive their hopes. However, despite the narrow one-goal margin, Bremen failed to find an equalizer. The hosts held firm and secured a 2-1 victory, advancing to the semifinals.
Arminia Bielefeld now becomes the latest 3. Liga team to reach the DFB-Pokal semifinals. Notably, this marks the second consecutive year that a third-tier side has made it this far—last season, Saarbrücken achieved the same feat.
