Chelsea faced Atalanta in a UEFA Champions League fixture and suffered a narrow 1–2 defeat, extending an already concerning streak.

Details: The London club have now gone five straight away matches in the competition without a victory. This season, they lost 1–2 to Atalanta, 1–3 to Bayern Munich, and drew 2–2 with Qarabağ.

In the 2022/23 campaign, Chelsea were beaten 0–1 away by Borussia Dortmund and 0–2 by Real Madrid. The last time they endured a similar run was back in 2012.

This match also saw Wesley Fofana leave the field due to an injury. Adarabioyo came on to replace him. What’s more, Fofana had only returned to the pitch for the second half, coming on in the 46th minute, but was forced off again half an hour later.

As a reminder: Inter hosted Liverpool in the sixth round of the UEFA Champions League and suffered a 0–1 defeat, bringing an end to the Nerazzurri’s impressive run.
