At the flagship PGA Tour event, THE PLAYERS, which took place from Thursday to Sunday, March 14-17, the champion was crowned.

For the first time in tournament history, the defending champion retained his title for the following year. The American golfer started the tournament exceptionally well, completing the first round with a score of 67 strokes. However, the second day proved less favorable as Scottie Scheffler completed it with 69 strokes, leaving him at -8 after two days. Nevertheless, during this round, he suffered a neck injury and, at one point, contemplated withdrawing from the tournament.

After receiving assistance and preparation, Scottie Scheffler continued the tournament. Following the third round, he stood at -12, well above par. On the final day, Scheffler showcased remarkable golf, staging an incredible comeback and clinching the championship. He completed the fourth round with 64 strokes, ultimately finishing the tournament at -20, above par.

Spectators and Scottie Scheffler himself were poised for a playoff on the last 18th hole. Wyndham Clark needed to sink a putt to make a birdie. He came incredibly close, but the ball cruelly bounced out of the hole.

Scottie Scheffler secures victory for the second consecutive year at the prestigious THE PLAYERS tournament. It is noteworthy that for the first time in the 50-year history of the tournament, a golfer has successfully defended their title for two consecutive years.
