On Wednesday, March 11, Chelsea and Manchester City played their UEFA Champions League matches and rewrote an unwanted chapter in English football history.
Details: According to Opta, for the first time ever two English teams lost on the same Champions League matchday by a margin of three goals. Manchester City were beaten 0–3, while Chelsea suffered a 2–5 defeat.
Incidentally, this was only the second time in history that Chelsea have conceded five goals in a UEFA Champions League match. The previous instance occurred more than a quarter of a century ago.
